Obituary for Barbara Weaver

Barbara A. Weaver formerly a resident of 50 years at Markham-Wesley Road in Gowanda, NY passed away April 28, 2022 at the Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital at the age of 80 after a short illness.

She was born September 29, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late John and Florence (Rinus) Burling.

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY for the first 22 years of her life. After raising all her children she went to work. Working at a deli, Moench Tannery, and then as a nurses aide at the Gowanda Rehabilitation Center for 15 years. She then cared for her husband Ed until his passing in 2009.

She enjoyed reading, crafts, scrapbooking, and many other hobbies. She looked forward to summer vacations in Virginia where she spent her time with her sister and family. She always remembered to send Birthday Cards to everyone in the family. She loved her Catholic faith but above all else, she loved her family and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her eight children: Cindy (Bill) Jackson of Lakewood and Carla (Sandy Cobb) Weaver of South Carolina, Richard J. (Sandra) DePue of Springville, Kevin DePue of Buffalo, Michael (Laura) DePue of Orchard Park, Christopher (JoAnn) DePue of Hamburg, Christine (Herb) King of Moseley, VA and Wayne (Mindy) Weaver of Bemus Point; her sister: Kathy Mayhew of Ashland, VA. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband - Edward Weaver whom she married in Perrysburg, NY on June 2, 1973.

Friends may call Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main Street, Springville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11 AM at the St. Aloysius Church, 190 Franklin Street, Springville, NY. Internment will be held in the Cherry Creek Center Cemetery.
