Obituary for Bernadine H. Veith

Bernadine Helen Veith, of West Valley, NY entered into eternal rest on September 19, 2022 surrounded by her family.

She was born April 6, 1933 in Morton Corners, NY and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Stella (Ziecker) Witt.

She is survived by her children: Donald (Jeanne) Ford of West Valley, Darlene Panarello of West Valley, and Cindy Ford of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter-in-law: Catherine Ford of Springville; nine grandchildren: Bryan, Michelle, Sarah, Rachel, Ryan, Kayla, Dillon, DJ and Joe. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons: Duane and Douglas Ford; her sisters: Lucille Farner, Emily Crandall, and Marilyn Story; her great-grandson, Alex Eaton and her ex-husbands, Thomas Ford and Donald Veith.

Bernie was a woman of deep faith and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Springville for 75 years. Bernie was an avid Bills, NASCAR and baseball fan along with any sport she could watch on TV. She was known to be opinionated when it came to sports her children and grandchildren played and was the all time designated pitcher in the neighborhood softball games. She wanted to be a race car driver at Holland Speedway but unfortunately females were not allowed to drive back then and anyone that rode with her knew of her lead foot. She bowled many years on Monday nights at Concord Lanes. She worked at Hoffman’s Farm, Robinson Knife, Motorola and Prestolite.

Her family will receive visitors from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville. A Funeral Service will be held at the Salem Lutheran Church, 91 W. Main St., Springville at 11am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 with Pastor Eric Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Springville
