Obituary for Delbert "Duke" M. Dains
Delbert "Duke" M. Dains of Springville, NY passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 90.
He was born August 9, 1931 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Frederick and Edna (Lux) Dains. He worked at Union Concrete and Construction for 42 years and was a member of Laborers Local 210. Duke actively served 54 years with the Springville Volunteer Fire Department and was a Life Member.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran that served from 1952-1956. Part of his time served was spent in Korea.
Duke enjoyed playing baseball and was in the Courier Express Southtown's League in the 50's and 60's. He loved going to football games.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Smith) Dains, whom he married February 20, 1954 at St. Aloysius Church in Springville. He is also survived by his children: David (Linda) Dains of Springville, and Dennis (Dawnmarie) Dains of Springville; sister, Jean Blakely of Olean, NY; grandchildren: Allison (Andrew) Smith, and Elizabeth (Dana) Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Asher Smith, and Patrick and Emily Mitchell; as well several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, MaryLou (Frank Edwards) Orndorff.
There will be no prior visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
