Obituary for Geraldine M. Vandervort
Geraldine M. Vandervort of Springville, NY passed away January 3, 2023 at Buffalo General Hospital at the age of 82.
She was born April 27, 1940 in Springville, NY a daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Neumann) Gentner.
She worked as a dietary aide at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and Springville Middle School. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Springville, NY.
Geraldine enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, spending weekends in Pennsylvania with family, and spending winters in Florida with a great group of friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband - Robert Vandervort, whom she married on September 28, 1963; her children: Kathleen (Rich) Gernatt of Springville, Robin (Todd) Bartoo of Hamburg, Brenda (Dave) Folts of Springville; her siblings: Nancy Schiedel of Springville, Mary King of Springville, Jean (Bill) Jones of East Otto, and sister-in-law :Ruth Gentner of Springville; her grandchildren: Jeremiah (Karleigh) Hansen, Jena (Steven) Schloss, Brendan (Hallie) Bartoo, Marissa Folts, Colin Bartoo, Dustin Folts and Kelsey Folts. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine is preceded in death by her brothers - Donald, Charles, and Joe Gentner, and sister - Teresa Lowry.
Friends may call Monday, January 9, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main Street, Springville, NY 14141. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church, 190 Franklin Street, Springville, NY 14141. Interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery.
