Obituary for Gloria J. Straight
Gloria Jean (Schelble) Straight of Springville, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in her residence at the age of 87.
She was born November 13, 1935 in Boston, NY at Wetry Farm, a daughter of the late Carl and Pearl (Follman) Schelble.
She was a Secretary at Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville, and a volunteer tour guide at Beaver Meadow. She was an SGI 1952 graduate, and was a 4-H leader in Springville, part of a bowling team, a member of the Springville American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Kakkle Klub. She enjoyed playing Dominoes on game night with her friends, as well as traveling with her family. Additionally, she was a member of the Springville First Presbyterian Church, where she was involved with their dinners, fried cakes on Friday's, and assisting with their rummage sales.
She is survived by her children: Marlene (Edward) Golabek-Schoepflin of Springville, Julie (Steve) Harned-Schoepflin of South Carolina, and Gary (Carla) Schoepflin of Saugerties, NY; grandchildren: Cory, Kristin, Cody, DaVee, Amanda, Austin, and Brady; great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Hunter, William, Avery, Wyatt, Aiden, Alex, and Jack; sister-in-laws: Joanne Schelble of Eden Heights, and Audrey Schelble of Little Valley; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Schoepflin, whom she married September 7, 1956. He passed away November 6, 1982. She is also predeceased by her second and third husband, Arthur Fox and Orval Straight; siblings: Dorothy "Dot" (late Warren) Berger, Loretta (late Paul) West, Carl "Dewey" Schelble, and Bob Schelble.
There will be no prior visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11AM at the Springville First Presbyterian Church, 38 N Buffalo St, Springville, with Pastor Ralph Mueller officiating. Final interment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery in Springville.
