Obituary for Harold W. Langhans

Harold Willard Langhans of Springville, NY passed on to his heavenly home February 24, 2022 at his residence at the age of 85.

He was born September 27, 1936 in East Otto, NY, the son of the late Hughes Langhans and Viona (Ornce) Langhans Hughey. He was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1955-1959.

He worked as a Machinist for 43 years at Peerless-Winsmith until his retirement in 2002. He was a past member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Springville and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Orchard Park. His deep bass voice added to choirs of the US Navy and the church.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He had many fond memories of camping, fishing and deer hunting. He took many adventurous trips to Canada to fish walleye, and hunted moose and grouse. Gardening was also one of his favorite hobbies. He shared his passions with many friends and family, who also have many fond memories of those times spent together.

He is survived by his wife, Janice (Higbee) Langhans, whom he married in 1960; his sister Celia Coffey and sister-in-law Marlene (Emil) Hellwig; his children: Craig (Vera) Langhans of Springville, Donna (Dave) Fay of Springville, and Cheryl (Mark) Sasse of East Concord; his grandchildren: Kristy Briggs, Nathan Langhans, Vera Marie (Andrew) Stobnicki, Katelynn Langhans, Jonathan Langhans, Shawn Langhans, Jeremy (Meagan) Fay, Ian Will, Kara (Scott) Bellinger, Lora (Steven) DeLuca, and several great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elaine Lexer and Joyce Jenkel; and Robert Coffey, R.J. Coffee and Dan Lexer.

Friends may call Friday, March 4, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main Street, Springville. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11AM at the Salem Lutheran Church, 91 W. Main Street, Springville.
