Obituary for James M. Golabek
James M. Golabek of Boston, New York, passed away on February 28, 2022 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center at the age of 78.
He was born January 24, 1944 in Buffalo, New York a son of the late Matthew and Joyce (nee Frank) Golabek.
He attended and played football for Springville-Griffith Institute High School, before serving in
both the US Navy, and the US Army as an Artilleryman. James was an associate of several community organizations, AMVETS, VFW, and the American Legion. He was a member of the Springville First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children: Tina (Eddie) Mercado of Lake View, New York, Michael (Tracy) Golabek of Sumter, South Carolina; his siblings: Christine (late John) Boundy of Springville, Joannie (Jeff) Willett of Boston, Elaine (Kenneth) Taylor of Boston, Kenneth (Cheryl) Golabek of Springville, Jeanette (late Rick) Stinson of Delevan; sister-in-law: Janet Golabek of Springville; his grandsons: Brandon and Mathew Golabek and Edward Mercado. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers - Bruce, David and Matthew Golabek.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 1-5PM at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E Main St, Springville, NY 14141, where a Funeral Service will follow at 5PM. Burial will be held March 4, 2022 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Springville at 11AM.
