Obituary for Jean E. Blakely

Jean E. Blakely, formerly of West Valley, NY passed away November 1, 2022 at Olean General Hospital at the age of 92.

She was born November 14, 1929 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Frederick and Edna (Lux) Dains.

She worked at Travelers Restaurant in Springville, NY and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Springville.

Jean loved to cook and bake. She was known throughout town for her delicious cookies, and treats. Jean would bake, and donate over 100 dozen cookies every year to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her cookies were always requested by everyone in town. On top of her cookie making, Jean also had a catering business. In her free time, she loved to travel the world. If Jean wasn't traveling or busy in her kitchen making something delicious, she could be found tending to her beloved flower & vegetable gardens or in her blueberry and strawberry patches.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Blakely, who passed away in 1992, and her loving companion of 22 years, John Crosby, who passed away in 2014.

She is survived by her children: Brenda (Anthony) Cavallaro of Falconer, NY, James (Suzanne Monroe) Blakely of Olean, NY, Alan (Lydia) Blakely of Flordia, Timothy Blakely of Phoenix, AZ, and Jeffery (Jennifer Burroughs) Blakely of Little Valley, NY; her step-brother: Fred Dains; thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings - Delbert "Duke" Dains and Mary Lou Orndorff.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
