Obituary for Jean M. Jones
Jean M. (Gentner) Jones of East Otto, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo at the age of 84.
She was born June 22, 1938 in Springville, NY a daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Newmann) Gentner. She worked on their family farm, Wilean Farms in East Otto. She was also a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and the East Otto Cemetery Association. In her free time she enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her children and grandkids. Additionally, she was a member at St. Mary's Church in Cattaraugus.
She is survived by her husband, Wilfred "Bill" Jones, whom she married October 19, 1957 at St. Aloysius Church in Springville. She is also survived by her children: Mike (Bobbi) Jones of E. Otto, Suzanne (Jim) Graser of E. Otto, Marjorie (Gordon) Hauri of E. Otto, Dennis (Tracy) Jones of E. Otto, and Barbara (Tim) Lexer of E. Otto; sisters: Nancy (late Emerson) Schiedel of Concord, and Mary (Ed) King of Concord; brother and sister-in-laws: Ruth Gentner, Robert Vandervort, and Mac Lowry; as well as 35 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings: Donald Gentner, Geraldine Vandervort, Charlie (Sandy) Gentner, Joe Gentner, and Theresa Lowry; as well as one grandchild, Rowan Graser.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 1pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St. Springville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11am at St. Aloysius Church in Springville with Rev. Daniel Fawls officiating. Final interment will take place in East Otto Cemetery.
