Obituary for Margaret H. Elvin

Margaret H. (Boberg) Elvin of Springville, NY passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital in Springville at the age of 98.

She was born October 5, 1924 in Springville, a daughter of the late Lester and Violet (Bergholtz) Boberg. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Springville and was a member of the Slovenia Club. In her free time, she enjoyed playing guitar, playing cards, listening to country music, yodeling, and helping with meals on wheels. In addition, during WWII she performed by singing music on the radio with her stage name, Peggy Montana.

She was the owner and waitress of the Cricket House. She was also a bartender and waitress for the Springville Hotel.

She is survived by her children: Dale (Elizabeth) Schue of Springville and Denise (Gary) George of Gowanda; her brother: Elton "Pete" (Betty) Boberg of West Valley; her grandchildren: Erik, Jared, Heather, and Kyle Schue, Daniel and Brooke George, and Michelle George-Yates; as well as six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husbands, Franklin "Cricket" Schue and Arthur Elvin; her siblings: Clayton Boberg, Frederick Boberg, and Della Schmidt.

Friends may call on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 10am-12pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St. Springville, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12pm with Pastor Tim Klahn officiating. Final interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery in Springville, NY.
