Obituary for Marilyn U. Dains
Marilyn U. Dains of Springville, NY passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home at the age of 90.
She was born September 6, 1932 in Springville, NY, a daughter of the late Norbert C. and Beulah B. (Nunweiler) Smith. She was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church in Springville, and was a longtime member of the Springville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She worked as a secretary at Concord Medical Group and for Dr. Brian Scharf.
Marilyn loved cooking, baking, gardening, watching football, making theme baskets for her church. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing cards with family and friends.
Her beloved husband, Delbert "Duke" Dains whom she married February 20, 1954 passed away May 26, 2022. They were happily married for 68 years. They were an inseparable pair who loved doing everything together and were known by all as "Skook and Duke".
She is survived by her children: David (Linda) Dains of Springville, and Dennis (Dawnmarie) Dains of Springville; sister, Nancy Smith of NC; her grandchildren: Allison (Andrew) Smith, and Elizabeth (Dana) Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Asher Smith, and Patrick and Emily Mitchell. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, as well as a brother - Donald (Dorothy) Smith.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life for both Marilyn and Delbert "Duke" Dains will be held on October 4, 2022 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church, 190 Franklin Street, Springville, NY. Those wishing to attend a luncheon after the service, please RSVP to Dains54@hotmail.com by October 2, 2022.
