Obituary for Warren R. Pilger

Warren R. Pilger of Glenwood, NY passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 100.

He was born on December 30, 1922 in Orchard Park, NY and was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Smith) Pilger. He was a United States Army Veteran and served from 1946-1949. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was also a handyman and was the caretaker of Maltby Cemetery in Glenwood, NY for 50 years. Warren also enjoyed baseball and was a 2005 member of the WNY Baseball Hall of Fame.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the NYS Department of Transportation.

Warren is survived by his wife, Mary (Schrader) Pilger whom he married on July 3, 1948 in Colden, NY; his children: Barbara (Gary) Roblee of East Concord and Cheryl Sardina of Tully, NY; his grandchildren: Katie (Tim) Clouden, Kevin Roblee, Nicole Hayes and Austin Dennee; also survived by four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Raymond, Charles, Bernard and Leslie Pilger.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment to be held in Maltby Cemetery.
