Obituary for Wilfred "Bill" R. Jones
Wilfred "Bill" R. Jones of East Otto, NY passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Erie County Medical Center at the age of 83.
He was born December 29, 1939 in Hamburg, NY a son of the late Wilfred H. and Ruth (Parks) Jones. He worked on their family farm, Wilean Farms, in East Otto. He was also a member of the East Otto Fire Department for 60+ years. He enjoyed golfing, traveling to Florida, and growing vegetables in his garden.
His wife, Jean (Gentner) Jones, whom he married on October 19, 1957 at the St. Aloysius Church in Springville, passed away on March 2, 2023.
He is survived by his children: Mike (Bobbi) Jones, Suzanne (Jim) Graser, Marjorie (Gordon) Hauri, Dennis (Tracy) Jones and Barbara (Tim) Lexer all of East Otto; siblings: Betty (Pete) Boberg of West Valley, Deborah (late Ken) Ploetz of Springville, Gail (Phil) Vara of Hamburg, Tom (Doreen) Jones of Silver Creek, and Steve (Nancy) Jones of Hamburg; sister-in-law, Cathy Reidel of Freedom, NY; as well as 35 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is predeceased by his siblings: Pat (late Jerry) Kemph, Robin (late Gary) Kester, and Robert "Ed" Jones; and grandchild, Rowan Graser.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 1-4pm and 6-9pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St. Springville, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11am with Rev. Missy Ulinger officiating. Final interment will be held in the East Otto Cemetery.
