Obituary for William E. Dewey
William E. Dewey of Springville, NY passed away October 6, 2022 at his residence at the age of 77.
He was born January 8, 1945 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Ernest W. and Beatrice C. (Covell) Dewey.
He worked as a Truck Driver for Praxair out of Niagara Falls and previously for Dunkirk Ice Cream. He was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1964-1967. He was also a member at the New Life Fellowship Church in Springville.
He loved collecting coins, traveling to Florida every year to visit Disney, touring Amish Country, and visiting Mumford. He loved old cars and tractors. His 65 Ford Galaxy was amongst his favorites.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Brisley) Dewey, whom he married in Springville, NY on November 6, 1999; his children: Dawn (Brian Benedict) Geron of Poulsbo, Washington, Deanna (Bill) Brisley of Springville, Marc (Randi) Dewey of Gowanda, Andrew Dewey of North Carolina, and Sue (Max) Metcalf of Batavia; his sisters: Ida (Merle) Brisley of Arcade, and Elizabeth Piatt of Virginia; his grandchildren: Amanda (James) Larouche, Ashlee (Steven) Burger, Steven Galas, Nicholas (Cynthia) Brisley, Debbie (Kevin) Horning, Marc, Elijah, Logan and Rhett Dewey, Lisa (Brian Dorman) Metcalf, and Max (Debbie) Metcalf Jr.. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 11am-1pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main Street, Springville, NY where a Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with Rev. Tim Koffkey officiating. Burial will be held in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
